Motherhood is:

Celebration

For our children, for our families, for friends, and even sometimes for ourselves.  

She has been a party animal this week, kicking off summer with two consecutive nights of summer fun.  Thursday night we celebrated Daddy and all of those who are in Emergency Services with a BBQ where she had a great time playing with some of her friends and took full advantage of the sand volleyball pit giant sandbox..hello bath time!  Then Friday night we went next door to another very special celebration.  It was the 5 year anniversary of our neighbor, Sharon's, successful double lung transplant. We were so glad to be able to celebrate life with her and other friends and her family.  What a true blessing she is to us all, and is also a great daily model of what Motherhood is each and everyday.  And every party is better with a little picnic food of fried chicken!

Motherhood is:

Timing

Nap Time.  Meal Time.  Bath Time.  Play Time.  Bed Time.  

But most importantly, Making and Taking Time, time to enjoy the little things, like a park bench with Daddy. 

Just to sit, relax, and watch the world go by.

This was part of a wonderful Mother's Day outing.  We made a trip up to Deanna Rose, a Petting Zoo/Farmstead in Kansas City. We all enjoy such a beautiful day of just being together.  The best part of the day (and many of my days) is just getting to watch these two interact and love each other.  Priceless!

Growing

As a Person, a Mommy, a Wife, and a Friend

There is so much to learn, about yourself, this precious little girl, what we all need to be happy, healthy, and successful.  Learning each day how to do my job just a little bit better.  Going outside my comfort zone to educate myself and do what is right for our family, even if it means getting my hands a little dirty.  It is a challenge I am grateful for and that I don't take for granted.

Bliss

There was nothing but pure happiness and bliss in this reunion.

She was there with Daddy waving when I stepped off the plane, full of hugs and kisses for Mommy.  My heart could barely handle it.  You realize just how much you miss someone when it is put back in your arms.

Motherhood is:

Dynamic

One day it works, one day is does not.  Just when you think you have figured it out...well it changes.

Just like this storm that was brewing over the Middle East, what it is one minute may not be what it is later on.  But watching one grow, develop, and blossom is part of life.  A little nerve-wracking, definitely, but oh so worth it.
