Fireworks (a bit late)

So, I got the 4th of July post up, but the week after we went to Humboldt for their city fireworks display.  They had postponed theirs due to the rain.  Since getting our new camera, I had been looking forward to trying to get some good shots of fireworks!  We bought the Canon 50D, and as I am learning it I love it.  Growing up I did a lot of photography with a SLR, but have forgotten so much of what I learned.  So between reading blogs, books, and trial and error we are slowly figuring it out.  We thought now was a good time to invest in a nice camera with the little one on the way.

So with that here are a few fireworks pictures...my tripod actually broke about half way through, so some of them got a bit blurry, but still kinda cool.  Guess we will be finding a new one! Enjoy!

30 Down, only 10 to go!!

10 weeks to go....I feel like we were just finding out that we would be welcoming a new life into our home!  Now not only are we so excited for that new life, but knowing that it is a Little Girl makes it all the more exciting. (Granted, we would have been equally excited with a boy).  I can just sit and daydream about what she will look like, what her personality will be like, and what her life will be like.  I know how special my relationship is with my Mom, so knowing that I will have that opportunity makes me smile.  From firsts to proms to planning a wedding, it will all be such a ride.  Not only that, but the relationship with my dad is priceless too.  He is such an inspiration to me, and knowing that our Little Miss will have someone like Tim to learn from is amazing.  She will truly learn from day one what a Christian, caring, loving man really is.  He is always so supportive and loving of me no matter the situation, and I have no doubt he will be the same for our Baby Girl!  In the mean time here is some 30 week pictures! Also we have a sonogram tomorrow, so excited!  Will post picts!

We were going to do outside picts, but it was SO bright that this is the only way I could keep my eyes open!

Now I can see...30 weeks!

29 weeks!

Tim Blogging here..........OK so week 29 has come and gone and they are flying by faster and faster.  Little Miss is growing, rolling, twisting and turning and making Monica's belly into a jungle gym for a 3 pounder.  Monica is defiantly feeling a little more heat right now as it seams to be in the 110 degree heat index for the last couple weeks.  To remedy that she has been taking full advantage of the pool and AC. We have had 2 of our 3 parenting classes at the hospital and so far we have had a good time.  I was probably most excited to meet people that will have kids the same age with as we will get to know them the next 18 years with all the sports and other school activities.  Here is what a 29 week pregnant Monica looks like.....

Royals!

We had to opportunity the other night for a road trip and fun with friends up to the K for a Royals game!  Royals games are always fun even if they aren't always on the winning side of the scoreboard.  This game was even better because it was firefighter appreciation night at the K and it also fell on a Friday so there were Friday night fireworks and to top it all off it was buck night!!!! That means that hot dogs (all though made 12 hrs before game time) pop, peanuts and Twinkies were all just one dollar!  Vince and Mary, Kyle and Jenny, Sam and Shawn all went up with us and had a great time.  One of my best friends Isaac R. works for the Royals and we got a little royal treatment once inside the stadium.  The July heat was getting to the prego lady so he took some of us in to the club level seating, it was awesome!  The air conditioning might have been the best part but the view was amazing as well, right behind home plate! Here is a few shots from the game.......

28 and counting!

Wow, where is the time going?!  I can't believe (and I know I have said this in other posts) that we are getting so close.  We had an appointment yesterday (28 weeks 6 days) and everything went great.  I did the glucose test, that stuff is not so yummy, but all is well because the clinic called me today to say that my blood sugar looked good, what a blessing.  She did say that my hemoglobin is a bit low, so I am starting on an iron supplement which she said would take care of the problem and all would be fine!  We got to hear her heartbeat which was at 152 b/m.  I think no matter how many times we get to listen to it, it will bring a smile to our faces and a tear to my eye.  My blood pressure and weight gain are still right on track, so only a few more weeks to go!!  We will now start having Dr appointments every 2 weeks, then in the last month we will go every week.  At our next appointment we will get to have a sonogram and see our little one, CAN'T WAIT!!

The nursery is still coming along great!  I am loving it, and just can't wait for all the final touches and of course her!!  We got some shelving hung up and the mirror is in, we just have to hang it this weekend. The curtains are complete as well and hung up!  We are having her bedding made, and it has been delayed about a week....so now we won't see it until probably the 1st week in August.  Not that I "need" it yet, I just feel like the room will be so much more complete when I am not looking at a bare mattress.  Guess my lesson on patience is jut beginning.  My baby bag also came in last week, it was a bit of a splurge, but I am so excited for it, and after we are beyond the diaper bag stage it will be a great carry-on/laptop/"extra stuff" bag!!

I have been in Topeka working a lot this week, so am very ready for the weekend.  We are starting it off tomorrow by going to KC to a Royals game with some friends, it should be a great time. I will post picts of that this weekend!  Hope you all have a great Friday, and an even better weekend!!

4th of July Celebration

This year we were grateful that Tim had the 4th off, as well as many of our friends.  It seems like the last few years he has had to work, so we took the opportunity to have a BBQ and celebrate.  Though the weather forecast was DEFINITELY not on our side, we still had a great time.

Tim manned the grill, everyone brought yummy sides and due to the impending rain it wasn't too hot to eat outside.  We just made it through dinner outback and got things pretty much cleaned up and all the kids were playing when the rain started.  I don't think it actually stopped raining until the 5th around noon.  So for a while the guys found refuge in the garage and the kids and wives were inside....unfortunately for the guys it didn't take us all long to migrate out to the garage as well.  Since our house isn't exactly kid friendly just yet (no toys) it wasn't much fun for them to be cooped up inside when they could be playing in the rain.  Thank goodness, Sharon, our neighbor is equipped with everything a kid could want.  She ran over and got some bubbles and then they were entertained until it was dark enough that we could attempt to shoot off some fireworks.

Even though the rain continued we (the guys) were still able to rush out in the rain to light of some fireworks.  Some of them may have gotten tossed from the garage, to which the kids reminded their dads that, " we aren't suppose to do that with fireworks!"  Guess, they were listening all along!! The girls loved doing their sparklers, and were going through them faster than Tim could get them lit, and even though kids and dads were soaked it turned out to be a great evening!  Chanute has a large city display every year that we had planned to head over to, however, with he rain we just decided to stay here at the house.  Fortunately, we live close enough to the park that we could walk about half a block and have a decent view.  I do think that it rained harder in those few minutes that we watched than any other time all night...the girls were having more fun with the umbrellas than actually watching the fireworks.

I got a few pictures before it started to rain, but once that started I opted to keep our new camera operating and not take it out into the rain.  Here is a few of the ones I was able to get.  I am still figuring out the camera so they aren't perfect, but I am learning!

The fish in the back yard were a big hit!

The guys had been "practicing" their roping skills, however, that didn't last long and it became more fun to ride the steer!

Bubbles in the rain

Tim, showing them how it's done with the snap its!

At the end of the evening the girls were soaked, freezing, and ready for a break. They asked if they could sit on my lap with the baby, so sweet!!  They told me all they are going to teach her about, I think she will be in good hands!

"Finni Flight"

30 June 2010 marked my last flight until after our Little Girl arrives.  It was somewhat bittersweet, in that I am excited to be getting so close to her arrival, but yet being out of the jet for over 4 months (that is including my time off after she is here) will be strange!  The Air Force doesn't allow you to fly during your 1st or 3rd trimester, so I definitely did my fair share of flying during the second trimester.  I always felt great when I was flying and as long as I had my lunch packed with me, I was good to go.  Tim was (still is) so supportive, and when I would have to leave early to get to Topeka he would (does) pack my lunch while I am getting around.  This is a lifesaver, I get to sleep a few extra minutes and get ready knowing I won't be starving half way through a flight!  So, I will be keeping busy in Topeka with desk work for the next few months.  Here is a couple of pictures from my last flight!

I was 26 weeks and 6 days!

27 Weeks

Well, one more down and only 13 to go!  Not much to report once again, still feeling good and we are all getting more excited by the day.  I am feeling her move around ALOT more now, and most all of them Tim can feel and see too.  We can tell our little girl is gaining strength and losing space.  Our next appointment in on the 14th and I will have my glucose test that day, so pray that all goes smoothly and comes back negative.

I am definatly starting to feel bigger by the day!
