A Circus Celebration, Tenley turns 2!

Where oh where did the last 2 years go? On Oct 3rd our little girl turned two!  We celebrated her big day the following Saturday with a circus birthday party.  Originally scheduled to be in our back yard, the cold weather moved us inside.  It was a WONDERFUL day. Here is the recap in pictures.  Thanks to my Mom and Aunt Mary for taking photos since this Mommy was there to enjoy the day, not worry about photos!

Pick Your Nose, every circus has clown noses!

Awesome cupcakes made by Deanna Camper, Topeka.

Tenely seeing her great friend, Addie!

We LOVE our Jen!

Cake Time! I can count on one had the number of times this girl has had cake, however, all she would tell us she wanted for her birthday when asked was "brown cake," so as requested that is what she had.  Excited at the idea, but not so much when it actually came time to eat it. Silly girl!

Alex and Great Gma

Papa and Maw (my dad & mom) gave her a trike and she is all about it!

Presents!

She had so much fun, and was adorable with each gift!

This little girl lit up the day.  We hoped that she didn't go into "shy mode." She definitely did not do anything close.  She was all over the place, spreading joy to everyone that was able to celebrate with us.  Her smile and giggle are infectious, and it makes my heart so full.  She is loving and considerate, but with her share of sass.  She knows her mind (already), and isn't afraid to let you know.  She takes the time to learn her surrounds, and then comes out our social butterfly.  She talks, and talks, and talks.  Full conversations and sentences with us.  It seems to have appeared overnight, she is a parrot...right Maw? (have to ask)  Still a bit of a small fry at about 24ish pounds.  Her 2 yr well baby is this week.  She decided she is over diapers, so on to Minnie panties it is.  She is doing great with it. Now telling us most times, even though we still ask a million times a day.  Dancing is our favorite pass time, and tumbling class our favorite weekly event.  She is a JOY, there is no other way to put it!  She has blessed our lives beyond measure, and even though some days are a challenge,  I cherish each and everyone.  Thanks for being my baby girl, I love you more than you will ever know!

A Rarity

A family train ride with some good friends called for a family photo.  And other than the smirk on Tenley's face we are all happy and having a great time!   It was a fun experience, a bit long, but fun none the less! (Sept 2012)

Special

Moments. Events. Milestones. Each are greeted with a sense of accomplishment, and sometimes a tear. Some are just with a great big smile, because you know in your heart, theirs is overflowing with joy and that is truly special.

Daddy had been at work, and knew his girls missed him.  We had a fun family day planned, and he though there would be no better way to start it than with pink sprinkle doughnuts.  What a wonderful surprise, and I think somebody was a tad excited.  Thanks for making our day so special Daddy!

Special Treat

Pumpkin Spice Latte time means we are suckers for Starbucks.  Daddy was feeling generous after a long day stuck in a hotel room with Tenley while I was at drill...so it was time for a treat.  Latte for Daddy and hot coco for Tenley.  She loved it, and though she was pretty cool with her cup like Daddy's...well until a few seconds after this photo when the remaining half was spilled all over everything with in a 5 foot radius.  Oh well. It was fun while it lasted!  Yay for fall and all the yummy treats that come with it.

The Kansas State Fair was a huge part of my childhood.  We went yearly, not only to take in the sights, sounds, and smells, but also to compete.  We were a 4-H family and I look forward to the day that we become that family.  I learned so much about life, myself, my abilities; it will be a joy to share this with our children.  This was our first trip in a few years, and Tenley's first trip ever.  She was perfect all day, the weather couldn't have been better. It was a day that truly reminded us just how lucky and blessed we are.

Bedtime complete, now time to relax....well, sort of.  Hurricane Tenley hit this day.  Normally we pick up toys together, but time got away from us and a good bedtime was far more important at the time than picking up toys.  So it was left to Mommy & Daddy.  So maybe this one explains a bit of why this blog is so very far behind.  We have been so busy lately and enjoying our family time has been more of a priority.  I want to enjoy the "constant" part of this stage, even if that is picking up toys after a LONG day.

"Mommy, I help" is worth a little extra time.

This girl is my sidekick, in the kitchen, folding laundry, and in pretty much everything I do throughout the day.  Though sometimes I catch myself thinking that I could finish the task in five minutes, we try to accomplish most tasks together.  It is good for her and possibly better for me to slow down and enjoy this stage and the fact that she wants to help.  And now that she is chatting up a storm and such a little girl (only hits of baby are left), it is a joy to talk about it all as we go through it all.  I am grateful for her help, the help of family and friends, and our Mommy friends who make each day better.
