Kansas Biggest Rodeo 2012

Our hometown, Phillipsburg, is only about 2,300 people.  It is quiet and quaint and we love it.  However, when rodeo week comes around you can't help but feel the energy and excitement that rolls into town.  Rodeo is 3 nights (Thurs-Sat) with 2 nights of slack before that.  Tenely got to go to Wednesday night slack and Thursday night rodeo. Thursday is Tough Enough To Wear Pink night,  which raises money and awareness for breast cancer.  Then Friday and Saturday nights are Mommy & Daddy date nights!

 Friday Night!
One of the only herds of broke (to drive) longhorns in the nation.  They were pretty cool! They also made their way down main street for the rodeo parade on Saturday afternoon!

A little dirt...

never hurt anyone!  This girl was loving it.  Digging, playing, and checking out the "woof woof" with Aunt Megan.

Cowgirl Up

Another summer has almost come to a close.  I remember as a kid when the fair and rodeo ended, I knew that school was just around the corner.  We were back home last week for all of the festivities and had such a wonderful time.  Lots of time with family and friends was just what we needed.

Tenley had a big week with lots of activities and riding horses with Uncle Patrick and Aunt Megan was a highlight!

Practicing up, before we move on to the real deal

 Yeeeeee!

 On to bigger and better....

Tenley wanted to ride with Mommy this time.  Though I trust my brother's skills much more than my own, we did great.  She loved it!  As long as we were moving she was chatting and giggling  As we would go up and down the terraces and hills, she would cheer and "whee" and "bump" all the way

She at least got on with Daddy for a photo

Then it was Uncle Pat's turn.  They got to go fast and spin in circles, she thought it was great.  I love watching these two together!

The wisdom they have to offer is priceless, their experiences, we can learn from.  Their love is unconditional.

These photos make me so happy.  Tenley is blessed to have 3 wonderful Great Grandmas.  While we were back home she got to spend time with 2 of them.  The photo on the top is Great Grandma  Chester.  She has 3 boys, so is loving having another little girl to play jewelry and dolls with. Would you ever believe she is 90!  She is a go-getter and truly amazing.  Great Grandma Hanke is the second photo.  She was watching my Cousin's daughter for a few days so we met up with them at the park as well. We were also blessed to celebrate Grandma's 80th birthday while we were home. Always making sure the farm is ticking along and helping someone along, she is also quite a lady.
Both of these Women have been such an inspiration in my life and I am so ever grateful that Tenley is able to make memories with them as well.  They have so much to offer and I/we are blessed to be the recipient(s)!!

Reaching out for that hand to help, or extending yours can make all the difference in the world.  Don't be afraid to take it or to offer it when needed.

Walking hand in hand with Grandma is pretty special.  We are so blessed for so many people that love this little girl (and us) to pieces.  Their love and support means the world to us.

But, Oh.So.Worth.It

Some very tired eyes on my little Cowgirl.  She had enjoyed a big morning of horseback riding and was ready to drop. Her week was jam packed with fun, and maybe a bit exhausting..for us all!

A week at home was just what we needed after a few crazy weeks.  It was time for the Phillips County Fair and Kansas Biggest Rodeo.  These are two of our most favorite events of the year.  It was so fun to take Tenley this year since she was actually into what was taking place.  We went to watch many of the livestock shows (at the swine show here) and she loved it! Although, she only sat like this for about a minute :)
